Fire Risk Assessments
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (often referred to as the FSO) requires the ‘responsible person’ to take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from fire and ensure that people can escape safely should a fire occur. The FSO applies to virtually all premises in England and Wales and covers nearly every type of building, structure.

The fire risk assessment will detail the workplace and practices and provide an assessment on improvements that needs to be made.
As of October 1, 2023 owners of holiday homes or residential properties where guests pay for sleeping accommodation are required to meet the new fire safety regulations. The new rules include measures on fire doors, smoke detectors, fire alarms, fire risk assessment, safety equipment and lighting. The new rules are deigned to make sure all holiday let owners – even those who let out a room for a single night – make sure that their properties are fire safe.
