A safety policy is a written document that outlines and organisation’s commitments and objectives for health and safety management.

A written Health and Safety policy is required by law under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 for businesses employing five or more employees. The Policy must contain a signed statement of intent, organisation and specific arrangements section for the management of health and safety within the company.
