NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK)

At JNC we offer the NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK) Certificate.

The course has been aligned to CDM regulations which is guided by legislation but focuses on best practices. Topics include CDM roles and responsibilities, culture of health and safety and assessing risk.

The NEBOSH Construction Certificate is a Level 7 qualification which is accredited and credit rated by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA). The certificate allows for those who wish to apply for a card via the CSCS card scheme to gain the Academically Qualified Person (AQP) card (subject to the scheme requirements).

The certificate is internationally recognised and are suitable for persons starting out in the safety profession or for Managers / Directors with responsibilities for health and safety in the workplace. There are no entry requirements for this qualification and no previous health and safety knowledge is required although it is advisable that delegates do have an understanding of the basic practical aspects relating to site(s)/workplace. Learning Outcomes:

  • Justify health and safety improvements using moral and financial arguments
  • Advise on the main roles, competemcoes and duties under construction legislation and on a range of general construction site issues
  • Recognise workplace changes that have significant health and safety impacts and effective ways to minimise those impacts
  • Positively influence health and safety culture
  • Develop basic safe systems of work and knowing when to use permit-to-work systems for special tasks
  • Take part in incident investigations
  • Assess risk, recognise a range of common hazards, evaluate risk and recommend control measures / planning actions

Course Delivery and Duration:

This course is delivered by either classroom based learning or via self led distance learning. Duration of the classroom course is 10 days. For self led distance learning JNC recommends spending between 100 – 120 hours on the course.  The assessment for the certificate consists of one open-book examination (OBE), where delegates have a 48 hour period to complete and submit. Fees below include one sitting of the examination.

Fees:
Classroom: £1,550.00 plus VAT per person (fee includes study book and materials, tutor led course away from the workplace, lunch and refreshments, study with fellow professionals, one sitting of examination)
Distance Learning (Self Led): £795.00 plus VAT per person (fee includes study book, access to learning platform for learning materials, one sitting of examination when you are ready, complete the course in your own time)
